Accuris (formerly IHS Industry Standards) offers an online platform that simplifies and expedites the process for finding and managing standards and related information. The industry’s top standards management solution, it connects to the world’s largest collection of continuously updated engineering and technical reference documents from over 400 standards developing organizations and publishers. You can use the platform to see the history of a standard and determine the most current edition.
Argonne's library subscription to Accuris includes, but is not limited to, the following standards:
Account Access: To access Accuris click the link at the bottom of this page. Accuris uses Argonne's Single Sign On to grant access. Log in using your Argonne username and password.
To access ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes, you must be logged in using your Argonne credentials. From the home screen, select ASME BPVC Advantage or Electronic Stress Tables. Only one registered user can access BPVC at a time. If you are unable to access BPVC, you will need to try again later, as someone else is likely using it.
ASME standards on Accuris are DRM protected. This means that librarians are unable to download and forward the PDF versions to library patrons. This also means that ASME PDFs can only be viewed on the computer that originally downloaded them.
For you to be able to download and view ASME standards, you may need to contact the Help Desk and ask them to assist you in downloading and installing the FileOpen plugin https://plugin.fileopen.com/all/aspx.
FileOpen Plugin is available in the lab's Software Center (windows) and SelfService (Macs)
In addition to installing FileOpen, you will have to change your browser settings to that PDFs are downloaded, but do not open in browser. To do this on Google Chrome:
1. Click the 3 dots in the upper right corner of your browser window.
2. Click on Settings.
3. From the Settings page, click on Privacy and Security - Site Settings.
4. From Site Settings, scroll down to Content.
5. Click on PDF Documents. (You may need to click on Additional Content Settings, then PDF Documents.)
6. From PDF Documents, select Download PDFs, then close the Settings window.
After you have installed the FileOpen plugin and set your browser to download PDFs, you should be able to download and save ASME PDF standards to your computer.
