ITS America is the nation’s leading advocate for the technological modernization of our transportation system by focusing on advancing research & deployment of intelligent transportation systems. ITS facilitates collaboration between private companies, public agencies, research institutions and academia while educating the public about the importance of intelligent transportation systems.

"California Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology (PATH), a research and development program of the University of California, Berkeley, has been a leader in Intelligent Transportation Systems research since its founding in 1986.Our mission is to develop solutions that address the challenges of California’s surface transportation systems through advanced ideas and technologies and with a focus on greater deployment of those solutions throughout California."

The U.S. DOT’s ITS program focuses on intelligent vehicles, intelligent infrastructure and the creation of an intelligent transportation system through integration with and between these two components. The Federal ITS program supports the overall advancement of ITS through investments in major research initiatives, exploratory studies and a deployment support program including technology transfer and training.
